Via Sistina showed why she is regarded as one of Europe’s best mares with a stunning Australian debut at Rosehill Gardens.
The Group 1 $1 million Ranvet Stakes (2000m), a time-honoured weight-for-age race, resembled a barrier trial as Via Sistina swept from last on the turn to win easily.

Recognised as one of the world’s fastest sprinters, Nature Strip has blitzed his rivals in nine Group 1 sprints.
He was crowned Horse of the Year in 2020 and Sprinter of the Year in both 2020 and 2021.
In the 2021/22 season, he notched up a new win – claiming the biggest prize of them all, taking out The Everest. He followed that with a win in the G1 VRC Sprint Classic. He was superb in that victory, winning by 3.3 lengths, unchallenged. He won the G1 TJ Smith Stakes in the autumn before dominating his rivals on a worldwide stage in the G1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
