Winter Stakes winner Eckstein looks to have delayed a trip to the breeding barn for another week after coming through Saturday’s win at Rosehill with flying colours.
Trainer Chris Waller confirmed via Twitter the multiple Group III winner would likely have one more run this preparation, with the Listed Winter Challenge (1500m) in a fortnight the likely target.
Eckstein was purchased by Coolmore for $750,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast earlier this year and given to Waller for one final racing preparation.
It proved to be a wise decision in the Winter Stakes when Eckstein beat Godolphin’s Gaulois by a head, with the fast-finishing Nicci’s Gold a short head away in third. – Racenet.com.au
