Jason Collett has found the key to getting Invinzabeel back to the winner’s circle, riding him to a narrow victory at Rosehill.
Until Saturday, the Chris Waller-trained gelding had not won since May but his good record meant he carried top weight of 59kg in Saturday’s Thoroughbred Breeders NSW Handicap (1400m).
Collett had the $26 chance up on the pace and travelling comfortably and the six-year-old fought off Just Dreaming ($4.20) to win by a head.
“He likes to be cuddled not crowded,” Waller’s racing manager Charlie Duckworth said.
“He needs things to go his way and doesn’t want to be shoulder to shoulder with other horses.
“He was full of running at the top of the straight and hopefully he can put a couple together now.”
Invinzabeel’s stablemate Zumbelina ($3.20) displaced the Kris Lees-trained Just Dreaming as favourite in a late betting flurry but could only manage seventh. – AAP
