Unforgotten is making sure she has a name not to forget after keeping an unbeaten spring record in winning at Rosehill.
The Chris Waller-trained filly, sent out a $1.50 favourite, scored a 2-1/2 length win in the Schweppes Handicap (1500m) to make it three wins from as many starts since a spell.
Waller was happy to see the three-year-old didn’t raise a sweat in the mounting yard, given she was on quick back-up after winning seven days earlier.
“She hadn’t worried about last week’s race at all and looked just as good,” Waller said.
“I think over this distance she’s a little bit more effective too.”
Waller said there was a lot to forward to with Unforgotten next year.
“That’ll be her last run for this prep. We’ll give her a very short break and (then) back in for the autumn,” Waller said.
Unforgotten gave an insight into her potential when she finished second to last week’s Victoria Derby winner Ace High in a maiden race at Kembla Grange last season.
Waller said Unforgotten had a pedigree that Coolmore Stud’s Irish trainer Adrian O’Brien consistently raved about.
“Being of Fastnet Rock and out of a Galileo mare (Memories Of You) … it’s just a dominant cross,” Waller said.
“I think you’ll see it come out in the autumn.” – AAP
