Tivoli Street has finally found the right road home at Warwick Farm to open his account at his eighth attempt for Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller.
The gelding spearheaded a stable trifecta in the 3YO Maiden (1400m) on Wednesday as Sacred Edge and Eight Over filled the minor placings.
A more conservative race plan was crucial as Tivoli Street, the $2.15 favourite, scored by two lengths under Tommy Berry.
“He was ridden a little bit conservatively and a good speed on helped Tommy get away with it,” Waller said.
“It’s taken a while to get this first win on the board. Hopefully it’s the start of something better.”
Berry was never concerned, biding his time on Tivoli Street before pulling him clear in the latter stages.
“I rode him quiet and the race panned out beautifully for us,” he said.
“I was really impressed with the way he actually found the line. He’s been wandering around a lot in his races, but he was really strong through the line.”
Waller said Tivoli Street would continue to progress through the grades while Sacred Edge ($5.50) might step up in distance. – AAP Racing
