Metro Success for Stryker Filly

Promising young Fastnet Rock sire Stryker was in the winner’s list at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with the lightly raced Chris Waller-trained filly Labdien.

A winner on debut at the same venue back in March, Labdien had raced only twice since and was having her second run back from a spell in this 1300 metre Benchmark 67 event.

She settled last in the field of seven for Rory Hutchings and flew home along the inside to snatch a long head win.

Labdien was a $21,000 Magic Millions Weanling Sale purchase from the Widden Stud draft for long time stable Debbie Kepitis (Ingham), who part-owned and still supports her sire Stryker, the foundation sire for Victorian nursery Three Bridges Thoroughbreds.

Labdien has won two of four starts and over $50,000 in prizemoney with the promise of more to come.

She is the second winner for stakes-placed Fasliyev (USA) mare Bold Moment, a daughter of Group II winner Flushed.

Labdien is the 11th winner this season for Stryker, who was also trained by Chris for the Ingham family. – Breednet.com.au
