Star mare Joliestar will again represent Chris Waller Racing in The Everest, securing the stable’s slot for a second straight year and becoming the fifth confirmed runner for the $20 million sprint at Randwick on October 18.

Luckless when seventh in last year’s Everest, beaten just 1-1/2 lengths, Joliestar has since elevated herself into Australia’s top sprinters with victories in the Newmarket Handicap and the Kingsford Smith Cup.

“She’s just gone from strength to strength,” Waller said.

“What she did in the Newmarket was exceptional, and to back it up in Brisbane shows the quality she possesses.

“She’s matured beautifully and we couldn’t be more excited to have her back for The Everest.”

Waller’s slot will chase a third Everest triumph, having previously scored with Yes Yes Yes in 2019 and Nature Strip in 2021.

Joliestar joins an already elite line-up featuring Hong Kong superstar Ka Ying Rising, TJ Smith Stakes winner Briasa, the unbeaten Private Harry and dual Group 1 winner Jimmystar.

The mare’s standout four-year-old campaign included a dazzling straight-track success in the Newmarket Handicap, a driving second in the All Aged Stakes and a season-closing victory in the Kingsford Smith Cup.

Cambridge Stud owner Brendan Lindsay is delighted to have her Everest berth secured ahead of her scheduled return in the Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
