Chris Waller-trained She’s Clean comes within a whisper of Randwick 1400m course record

CHRIS Waller’s decision to scratch She’s Clean ($2.50) from her scheduled engagement in Friday’s Group 3 Belle of the Turf Stakes paid dividends with the daughter of Redoute’s Choice going within 0.01s of the Randwick 1400m course record in a blazing victory.
Ironically, She’s Clean’s absence from Gosford opened the way for stablemate Mamwaazel to post a value boosting black-type win in the $126,000 feature.

She’s Clean herself became her illustrious sire’s 100th stakeswinner when she took out last year’s Listed ATC June Stakes later adding the Triscay Stakes.

“I was going back through her form today and she beat a horse I had a lot to do with called Appearance so she only had to get back to a little back of that form and she always going to be too good today,’’ winning rider Blake Shinn said.

“She hasn’t been in the winner’s circle for a while but she’s been around some nice horses of late and the race was run to suit. They went at a nice tempo and she ambled up and put the race to bed very quickly.’’

As expected, visiting Victorian galloper Boomwaa pinged the start and immediately took up the lead setting a fast tempo in the four horse race with She’s Tempo a conspicuous last but full of running.

‘’She always travelled very well and the speed set it up for a horse to run on and when she presented into at the 500m I was very confident she was going to sprint the way she did,’’ said Shinn.

She’s Clean sprinted fast over the final stages to score by 4-lens ahead of Boomwaa ($2.80) with Pythagorean ($4.40) a further 2-lens away in third.

She’s Clean time of 1:21.04 was a hair outside of what More Than Great posted when beating the dual Cox Plate hero and 10 winner in the 2009 Listed AJC Ming Dynasty Stakes (1400m).
