Chris Waller leads the way for Group I wins in Australia this season and looking towards adding to that tally when the next Group I feature is run in Perth.
Following the final meeting of the Melbourne spring carnival at Flemington on Saturday, Waller heads Australia’s Group I tally with eight winners for the season and is considering shipping Kaonic and Life Less Ordinary to contest the Group I Railway Stakes (1600m) on Saturday week.
Kaonic defeated Life Less Ordinary in last Tuesday’s Listed Cup Day Plate over 1800m and is nominated for the Railway Stakes and $1m Kingston Town Classic on December 8.
Life Less Ordinary is also nominated for the Railway Stakes and Kingston Town Classic and has been nominated for Saturday’s Eclipse Stakes at Sandown and a race at Rosehill on Saturday.
Waller won the Railway Stakes in 2015 with Good Project, the entire among the nominations for the $1m contest but disappointing at Flemington on Saturday when unplaced in the Group III Chatham Stakes.
Import Mister Sea Wolf could join his stablemates on the trip.
The seven-year-old was beaten just over five lengths when finishing 12th behind Best Of Days in the Group I Cantala Stakes on Derby day and is nominated for both the Railway Stakes and the Kingston Town Classic.
Kaonic is rated a $31 chance in Sportsbet’s all-in market for the Railway Stakes. Mister Sea Wolf is also available at $31 with Life Less Ordinary rated a $51 chance.
The plane for Perth is scheduled to leave Melbourne on Sunday. – Racenet.com.au
