Winx is a racing legend.

Since winning at her debut over 1100m at Warwick Farm on June 4, 2014, the Chris Waller-trained mare has rewritten the record books over her next four years of racing.

With a staggering 28 wins and three runner-up finishes from 34 starts, Winx is the highest prizemoney earner in Australian racing history, having amassed over $16.5million.

She now holds the world record for most Group 1 wins in flat races with 17, having surpassed champion US galloper John Henry’s previous record of 16 when winning her third George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill on March 24.

Winx has been twice awarded the title of Australia’s Champion Racehorse and was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame last year, only the third horse after Sunline and Black Caviar to receive that honour while still racing.

Her record over the past four years lists multiple victories in some of Australia’s greatest races, including:

  • Equalling Kingston Town’s achievement of three successive wins in the W.S. Cox Plate at Moonee Valley;
  • Three successive wins in the Chipping Norton Stakes over 1600m and George Ryder Stakes over 1500m during Sydney’s autumn carnival;
  • One of only nine horses to have completed the Epsom Handicap and Doncaster Handicap double in the one season;

On Saturday, Winx will attempt to extend her winning sequence to 25 when she defends her title in the $4 million Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m at Randwick against nine rivals.

As a tribute to the champion, Racing.com will broadcast an hour-long special of ‘Winx’ on Saturday April 14 at 6.15pm AEST, replayed at 8.30pm AEST.

Racing.com’s Shane Anderson will be joined by form analysts Nic Ashman and Ben Asgari, with special guest Greg Carpenter, Racing Victoria’s Chief Handicapper, to discuss her performance in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the legacy of the world’s best racehorse, highlights from her career so far and what the future may hold.

‘Winx’, broadcast on Racing.com Free-To-Air channels 78 and 68, Foxtel 529, and Racing.com digital on Saturday April 14, 2018 at 18.15 AEST, replayed at 20.30 AEST.
